Wetlands
The wetlands of the Earth are a critical part of our natural environment. They prevent flooding, by absorbing water like a sponge. They protect our shores from wave action and erosion, and improve water quality.
They are also important because they provide habitats for animals and plants, and many contain a wide diversity of life, supporting plants and animals that are found nowhere else.
The photos on this page were taken between 2009 and 2018; all are wetlands were found near -- or along -- the Connecticut shoreline area.
